UNAM Pumas suffered a late defeat in the Liga MX Clausura final against Cruz Azul, who secured a 10th Mexican league crown. The match was played at the Olimpico Universitario Stadium in Mexico City. Cruz Azul won the title after a dramatic 2-1 victory over UNAM Pumas in the return match, following a goalless first leg. Rodolfo Rotondi scored the winning goal in stoppage time, turning inside the area and firing past the goalkeeper. UNAM Pumas had taken the lead in the first half through Robert Morales, but Cruz Azul levelled in the 53rd minute through a Ruben Duarte own goal. The title completed a remarkable turnaround under interim coach Joel Huiqui, who only took charge shortly before the playoffs but guided the club through the postseason.
